Jun 06, 2017 Soon Angelus' work on pocket watches was constantly being awarded gold medals at International Expositions. In 1925, Angelus produced their first in-house monopusher chronograph movements, a manual winding 29.3mm and a 31.6mm. In 1930, Angelus released the world's smallest 8 day movement which was developed in co-operation with Zodiac. Langendorf Watch Company was a Swiss watchmaker known for its fine craftsmanship and great attention to detail. Around 1890, it was probably the largest producer of watches in the world. The company produced watches in Langendorf, Switzerland for exactly a century, from 1873 to 1973.
Following on from its U21 and U22 models, Angelus is presenting another variation based on its skeletonised flying tourbillon movement. The Angelus A-250 calibre has once again been suspended within a case made from titanium and CTP (Carbon Thin Ply): a hard and lightweight carbon composite. Swiss watch company, Angelus, is being revived by La Joux-Perret, which has spent the last four years developing a modern collection (launching at Baselworld 2015 in a few weeks). Originally dating back to 1891, the new manufacture is based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, minutes from where Albert and Gustav Stolz established the original manufacture (in Le Locle). History of Angelus
Angelus was founded in 1891 by two brothers, Albert and Gustav Stolz, in the famous Swiss watchmaking town of Le Locle. For a long time, the brand was best known as one of the greatest manufacturers of chronograph movements. In 1925, Angelus produced their first in-house manual monopusher chronograph movement and, in 1930, the world’s smallest 8-day movement. Watch collectors still prize vintage Angelus chronographs made from the 30s to the 60s, with the holy grail being the Chronodato, which was the world’s first serially produced chronograph that featured a date.

Like many other prestigious watch brands, Angelus fell upon hard times during the 1970s quartz crisis and stopped production. The brand went dormant for close to 40 years until La Joux-Perret SA, a mechanical movement specialist in La Chaux-de-Fonds, decided to bring the Angelus name back to life in 2011.

Today the Angelus brand unites athletic aesthetics and advanced high-performance engineering to create its all-tourbillon watch collections, designed and produced entirely in-house. From the U20 Ultra-Skeleton Tourbillon with its sapphire main plate, the U21 Tourbillon, which features a combination of carbon-fiber and 18-karat gold, and the U50 Diver Tourbillon, with its titanium case and superior water-resistance up to 300 meters.

The Angelus product catalog currently includes five unique all-tourbillon timepiece collections, ranging in price from $35,000 to $100,000. Angelus timepieces are fully skeletonized, but their openwork tourbillon movements are by no means delicate. From their beam-shaped bridges to their interchangeable lugs and straps, Angelus movements are built like athletes: lean, efficient, robust, and adaptable. Alternative materials like sapphire, titanium, ceramic, and carbon fiber are regularly incorporated for aesthetic effect or for their unique properties of lightness and strength, to improve long term wear and performance.
